How to list hockey cards on eBay

Hockey cards have their own language: Young Guns, Canvas, Exclusives, High Gloss, O-Pee-Chee. Buyers search with those words, so your titles need them. This guide covers what a Canadian card shop puts in every hockey listing.

Know what you're holding

Upper Deck holds the NHL card license, so most modern hockey cards are Upper Deck products, including its O-Pee-Chee line. A few terms collectors search for constantly:

Title order for hockey cards

eBay gives you 80 characters. Lead with season and set, then the insert, parallel, number, player and rookie tag:

2025-26 Upper Deck Series 2 Young Guns Rookie #490 Zach Metsa61 / 80 characters
2023-24 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns Exclusives #201 Connor Bedard RC /10076 / 80 characters

Use the season format collectors use (2025-26, not just 2025), because that is how hockey sets are named and searched. Spell "Young Guns" out in full; shorten it to "YG" only when you need the room.

Item specifics that matter for hockey

Pricing hockey cards

Young Guns prices move with how a player is doing this season, so check sales from the last few weeks, not last year. Match the exact parallel and grade. A raw Young Guns, a PSA 10 and an Exclusives /100 of the same player are three very different prices.

Selling on eBay.ca in Canadian dollars

Many hockey buyers are Canadian, and eBay.ca lists in Canadian dollars. Most price guides, and most sold prices on eBay.com, are in US dollars, so convert at today's exchange rate before you price. If you sell to buyers in both countries, set your shipping to cover the US as well as Canada so your cards show up for American collectors too.

Shipping

Penny sleeve, top loader, tape across the top, and a rigid mailer or bubble mailer. Send valuable cards with tracking. Graded slabs need extra padding so the case doesn't crack.

CardDesk does all of this for you: upload the photos and it reads each card, builds the title and item specifics, prices it and posts it to eBay.
